Root Music Folder
Most people store their music underneath one folder that I'll call the root music folder. The parent of the root music folder may be the Desktop, Home, root, or other folder. Both MPD instances and MpDJ all need to be configured to point to the root music folder. If you want to change the location of the root music folder, you'll just need re-configure those three programs.
Organizing Folders
The method of organizing your music inside of the root music folder changes greatly. Some people keep all of the files in the root, or only organize by Genre. Others have folders for the artist and album. The important point here is that the tags stored for each song are associated with the sub path to the file. That means that if you re-organize your music, you will have to re-tag it. This is a potential big headache so it's a good idea to think a while on how you want to organize your music.
