A: For soundcards that don't support hardware mixing, you must configure software mixing in alsa.
Q: When I start the second instance of MPD, I get "Avahi: instance already running". What do I need to do?
A: Nothing. Don't worry about it. Avahi is for automatic service discovery on your network. It's not critical to DJ'ing.
